COMMUNITY UPDATE: Current Needs & Volunteer Opportunities, taken from the Bozeman United Mehtodist Church information update HRDC specific programs: Please direct inquiries to our main phone line or general email address, we are staffing our phones and email. Food Banks donations are needed, cash or online donations are appreciated so we can get the bulk items we need the most. Food Banks will move to a drive-thru model with prepacked food boxes, as follows: - Gallatin Valley Food Bank operating 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Monday thru Friday. - Belgrade distribution will operate out of our truck with prepacked food boxes, Mondays, 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. - Big Sky Community Food Bank will move to prepacked food boxes and a drive-thru and will have additional hours of operations: pick-ups from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:00 am-3:00 pm Wednesdays and Fridays. - Headwaters Area Food Bank will also move to prepacked food boxes (but not a drive-thru). At this time, our food banks will not be able to accommodate substitutions. Senior groceries will still be available for pick-up or delivery. All lobbies will be closed to the general public. Summer lunch will resume in the coming days. - Schools are working tirelessly to provide sack breakfast/lunches for kids updates here. Warming Center is CLOSED (approximately 2 weeks early) under guidance from the CDC. We are currently seeking partners and alternative solutions to serve everyone needing shelter at this time. -We need these specific items donated to HRDC: CAMPING GEAR including sleeping bags, tents, sleeping mats, bivy sacks, insulated blankets. HAND SANITZER, HAND WARMERS or TOE WARMERS. Please donate to: 2104 industrial Drive (The Warming Center) -We are not taking clothing donations due to the risk of spreading COVID-19. Shower Ministry Please contact Pastor Amy amy@bozemanumc.org if you are in the population category that is able to Volunteer time, should BUMC open a homeless shower ministry. Fork & Spoon Cafe has transitioned to a take-out only model effective Tuesday, March 17. Operating hours will stay the same, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The lobby, eating area, and bathrooms will be closed to the general public. Patrons will use the front entrance to pick up food to-go. Streamline bus has implemented the following route adjustments: 1. Half-hour frequency service on Blueline, Redline, and Yellowline/Orangeline is suspended until further notice. 2. The MSU Campus Shuttle will no longer be running this semester. 3. The Bridger Bowl weekend shuttle is suspended due to the closure of Bridger Bowl. 4. LateNight (including both Upstream and Downtown) is cancelled for this upcoming weekend (March 19th, 20th, and 21st). We are closely monitoring what other communities are doing and directives from state and national partners and CDC guidance as we move forward. Galavan will offer rides as possible with staff availability. We are working on ways to increase our drivers and fleet to reduce the numbers of riders per vehicles to accomplish proper distancing. Additional robust cleaning procedures have been adopted. Head Start Centers including The Gathering Place CLC are closed for two weeks, following the closure of public schools in Montana. We are working on plans for meal distribution to our affected families. Donations to in-need families and homeless are below (donations can be dropped off at Zocalo Coffee Shop 117 E. Main) Donations needed (Gathering Place CLC & Head Start will collect and distribute):

  • Non Perishable food items

  • Diapers (all sizes)

  • Wipes

  • Formula (all types)

  • Gift Cards for Food (grocery stores and restaurants)

  • Venmo donations to Gathering Place CLC/Head Start for purchase of above items only.

Our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) service is temporarily suspended as we develop an alternate service delivery model. Senior Services, we are suspending all Senior Reach behavioral health home visits. Homemaker services are being assessed on a case by case basis. For all at risk seniors, we will maintain contact by phone to ensure their essential needs are being addressed. Senior Centers across our communities are closing, including in Bozeman, Manhattan, Three Forks, Park, and more. Though communal meals will not be provided, individuals will have the option to pick up food to go. Meals on Wheels will continue, but all volunteers will wear gloves and will drop off meals at the door. Our energy programs have been directed to cease all Weatherization work through March 27. Our LIEAP and Energy Share programs will be operating via customer drop off and processing. NorthWestern Energy is suspending service disconnections during the COVID-19 outbreak. You can read more here. Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. is also implementing a moratorium on service disconnections for non-payments related to hardships incurred from COVID-19. Salvation Army in Bozeman: We have expanded our sack lunch program. Sack lunches are available M-F 9 am to 12 pm and 1 to 3 to help families. Firehouse subs has graciously donated 40 subs a day for the next two weeks. We have hygiene and cleaning supplies, some baby supplies, smaller size diapers. We will be implementing an emergency feeding program tomorrow after Rick meets with COAD. This will include delivering meals to at risk people. Our building is available for use by government, medical, and other entities working to slow the spread. If you all have a need please let us know. We have some grocery vouchers available and are looking for more sponsors to help supplemental food beyond what the Food Bank supplies.
